In the late 1980s, during Janet Kelly’s marriage, there was minimal information available about high conflict personalities, character disorders, narcissism, and the cycle of domestic violence. Janet spent many years seeking to understand behavior that deviated from the norm. Holding a high regard for marriage and her Christian faith, she found it challenging to accept the inevitable end of her marriage.
After years of striving to maintain her integrity while trying to “stay well,” Janet realized the relationship was not a true marriage. The cruelty and bizarre behavior she experienced led her to understand the necessity of “leaving well.” Acknowledging the unique challenges of her situation, her primary goal became to exit the relationship safely.
Janet’s experiences have driven her to assist other women in escaping destructive marriages. She has dedicated herself to studying disordered individuals, and with this knowledge combined with her personal experience, she believes she can offer valuable support to others in similar situations.
